Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership & Management

  • Oversee and supervise complex and/or extensive building maintenance projects, from the initial consultation and design phase to the completion and construction.
  • Ensure that all work is well planned, executed to a high standard, and with minimal disruption, by University requirements, including statutory and regulatory compliance, by collaborating with Project and Construction colleagues to identify and agree on appropriate project management arrangements for building maintenance projects. Identify and engage professional contractors and consultants as required, and provide technical guidance to the Facilities Services in-house team.
  • Conduct surveys and feasibility studies to assist in the planning and design of future minor construction and maintenance projects. Revise asset and maintenance documents.

Technical

  • Monitor the quality and completion of the work, and ensure that current and acceptable construction techniques are employed. Assist in the ongoing advancement of Estate Design Standards.
  • Offer technical guidance and technical expertise to Duty Managers and Facilities Managers in the context of planned or challenging maintenance, as well as minor projects.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of technical policies and procedures that impact the University’s Health and Safety operations.
  • Examining intricate maintenance issues and proposing technical solutions. Conduct and supervise building surveys and feasibility studies to assist in the identification of prospective building refurbishment and maintenance projects. Provide documented reports.

  • Prepare reports regarding the management of building fabric issues that are associated with risk. This encompasses the responsibility of conducting intricate investigations and offering technological solutions.

Supplier and Contractor Management

  • Assist the Head of Frameworks and Contracts and associates in the administration of term maintenance contracts and framework agreements. Assume the role of technical lead in procurement endeavors as required.
  • Perform sample audits, provide feedback on contractor performance concerning relevant KPI metrics, and guarantee that all minor works are cost-effective.

Governance and Reporting

  • Maintain strong governance, financial management, and value for money while managing delegated budgets. Provide critical reports to pertinent committees and working groups.

Terms & Conditions:
